No Dropped Frames Using Small Tree Shared Storage Solutions

Five Alts Production Shows “Guts” on Shared Storage Install

Location: Orlando, FL
Industry: Production and post-production
Working Environment: Final Cut, Apple ProRes 422 HQ

From concept development and scriptwriting to state-of-the-art production and post-production services, DNP Studios develops solutions to effectively inform, inspire, educate and motivate.

CHALLENGE

With three fully stocked post-production suites in a new, custom-built, 10,000-square-foot facility, DNP Studios needed a shared storage system capable of sharing HD footage in real time without dropping frames.

Solutions

To meet its technical requirements, DNP Studios installed Small Tree’s Ethernet-based shared storage GraniteSTOR solution with its unique OS X networking capabilities. Tightly integrated with Apple’s built in file sharing system, GraniteSTOR technology – which also incorporates Small Tree’s PEG4, a 4-port Ethernet card with the Edge-corE ES4524D, a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch certified to work with Small Tree’s technology – has enabled DNP Studios to play back DVCPro HD footage, while editors are pulling ProRes 422 HQ files from the drives simultaneously. Small Tree’s reliable solution has improved the production team’s productivity.
