Company Uses Shared Storage System to Maximize Resources

Location: Orem, UT
Industry: Production and post-production
Working Environment: Final Cut

Specializing in commercials, direct sales, and corporate training and live event videos, full-service production company Creative Media Group, Inc. (CMG) is in the enviable position of seeing continued project and business growth.

Working on larger projects as its business continues to expand, CMG wanted to maximize its human and technological resources. This could not be achieved relying on its existing project management system consisting of dozens of FireWire drives.

To facilitate project management through improved tracking, CMG installed Small Tree’s GraniteSTOR shared storage solution and unique OS X networking technology, which supports multiple Ethernet ports tightly integrated with Apple’s built in file sharing system, AFP. With the GraniteSTOR solution, consisting of Small Tree’s PEG6, a 6-port Ethernet card and Edge-corE ES4524D, a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch certified to work with Small Tree’s technology, CMG editors now can work concurrently on the same project without having to copy files onto multiple drives. This has enabled CMG to meet deadlines more effectively and keep its clients happy.
